Expertise Events called on quilters to produce a small 10″ x 10″ quilt to remember the ANZAC heroes of Gallipoli 100 years ago.
I entered the quilt below, which was accepted and then travelled around Australia and New Zealand and exhibited at all the Expertise Events such as AQC, and the Craft and Quilt Fairs.
If you click on this link it will show you all the other mini quilts in the exhibition. Just scroll down a little until you see the link.
I entered into the challenge quilt section which was titled ‘Out of the Blue’. Everyone had the same two fat quarters which you had to incorporate into your quilt. I won a ribbon for ‘Best interpretation of Theme’ with my quilt ‘For Moi!’ Lots of practising of my machine quilting went on in the background. The two fabrics were the harlequin fabric and the flower fabric which I fussy cut away from its muddy green background.
There was a display of ‘modern’ quilts at the Festival this year so I put in two of my quilts that I just had fun making. This first one was a quilt pattern from Camille Roskelley’s book ‘Simply Retro’ and used a layer cake that I had languishing in my stash. The other was some pattern I found on the internet – sorry can’t remember where from and also used up some stash fabric.
